AI Transparency

How NaviCentra uses AI

NaviCentra includes AI-assisted features built on Google's Gemini models via Vertex AI. This page explains what those features do, what data they process, and where humans stay in control.

Document extraction

When you upload a certificate or other maritime document, the file is processed to propose structured fields — document type, number, issuer, issue and expiry dates. Proposals are shown for your review and are only written into the vessel's compliance record after confirmation.

Compliance assistant

Authorized users can ask questions about their own workspace. The assistant may retrieve relevant context from documents that the user can already access, then answer from that context.

What data is processed

To perform extraction or answer questions, the relevant content of your uploaded documents (which may include vessel data) is sent to the AI service for that request. We do not use your content to train models. Documents you delete from your workspace are removed from your account's data.

What AI does not do

  • AI does not make compliance or renewal decisions by itself.
  • AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete. Always verify extracted dates and numbers against the original document.
  • NaviCentra is a record-keeping and workflow tool — it is not a substitute for advice from your classification society, flag state, or qualified maritime or legal professionals.
  • If you do not want AI to process a document, you can store it in the vault without running extraction — AI assistance is optional per use.

Human oversight

Every AI suggestion that affects a compliance record can be reviewed and corrected before it is saved. The platform keeps audit logs of changes so your team can see what was confirmed and by whom.
